ROSC Solutions Group Recognized by Accreditation Canada for Quality and Excellence

Primer

ROSC Solutions Group (RSG) is proud to announce that two of its organizations – Lakeview Recovery Community and Beccarian Correctional Care – have each received the Accreditation Primer Award from Accreditation Canada, marking an important milestone in their commitment to safe, high‑quality, recovery‑oriented care.

Accreditation Canada is a global, not‑for‑profit organization that sets national and international standards for quality and safety in health and social services. Participation in the Accreditation Primer program reflects RSG’s broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous learning across its system of care.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our teams and partners who are working every day to build a recovery-oriented system of care across Alberta,” said Dr. Carson McPherson, CEO of ROSC Solutions Group. “At RSG, we believe recovery should be the expectation, not the exception. Achieving accreditation for both Lakeview and Beccarian demonstrates that recovery-oriented care can be delivered with excellence in both community and correctional environments.”

Lakeview Recovery Community

Located northwest of Edmonton in Gunn, Lakeview Recovery Community provides long-term residential recovery services using a Therapeutic Community model that emphasizes accountability, peer support, and personal development.

During the accreditation process, Accreditation Canada surveyors highlighted Lakeview’s strong culture of person-centred care, resident engagement, cultural inclusion, and integrated quality and safety practices. The review also recognized the community’s emphasis on purpose and responsibility through initiatives such as the Purposeful Pathways Program, which supports recovery through structured roles, vocational development, and meaningful contribution within the community.

Lakeview achieved a perfect 100 per cent rating on required accreditation primer criteria, reflecting the strength of its recovery-oriented approach.

“This recognition reflects the strength of the entire Lakeview community,” said Lyndsey Hague, Executive Director of Lakeview Recovery Community. “Recovery here is built together, by residents, staff, peers, and partners who all play a role in creating an environment where people can rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and connection. Achieving the Accreditation Primer Award is a testament to the commitment, compassion, and shared accountability that define our community every day.”

Opened in July 2024, Lakeview has quickly become a demonstration site for recovery-oriented systems of care, regularly welcoming delegations from across Canada and internationally who are interested in learning from the recovery community model. Lakeview Recovery Community operates with funding from Alberta’s Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction.

Beccarian Correctional Care

Beccarian has received the Accreditation Primer designation, becoming the first addiction treatment program operating within Canadian correctional facilities to achieve accreditation through Accreditation Canada.

Accreditation reflects the strength of the Therapeutic Living Unit (TLU) model and establishes an important benchmark for recovery-oriented addiction treatment delivered in correctional environments across the country. This recognition highlights the growing value of recovery-oriented treatment in correctional settings as a way to reduce recidivism, improve health outcomes, and strengthen community safety.

Surveyors highlighted Beccarian as the leader in recovery correctional care with areas of excellence, including recovery-focused programming, skilled and engaged staff, collaborative leadership, and strong quality and safety practices.

Beccarian operates TLUs in the Calgary Correctional Centre, Red Deer Remand Centre, Lethbridge Correctional Centre, and Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre, where individuals experiencing substance use challenges participate in structured recovery-oriented programming while in custody. The program operates in partnership with Alberta’s Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction and Alberta Correctional Services within Alberta’s Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and professionalism of our teams working inside correctional facilities every day,” said Russell Purdy, Executive Director of Beccarian Correctional Care. “Together with our partners, we are demonstrating that recovery is not only possible but probable, and programming can be delivered effectively within correctional environments, helping individuals rebuild their lives and prepare for successful reintegration.”

The TLU model uses a therapeutic community approach that focuses on building recovery capital, strengthening accountability, and supporting individuals as they transition from custody to community-based recovery supports.
